Maria and Herbert Schubert have been married for 35 years. They want to celebrate their anniversary with their children at their weekend home. The harmony within the family turns out to be an illusion. Maria isn't the only one planning to leave her husband; things are also strained in their daughter Angelika's marriage. Son Mark turns out to be a perpetual student, and daughter Laura is incapable to commit herself.
